Lombard Odier wins award for top international bank in the Middle East

We are delighted to announce that Lombard Odier has won two prestigious prizes at the WealthBriefing MENA Awards for Excellence for the second year in row.

Lombard Odier collected the awards for best ‘Overall International Private Bank’ and best ‘Shariah-Compliant Wealth Management Offering’, having won both last year.

The former recognises the outstanding performance from a private bank servicing the MENA region with a headquarters outside the region. The latter commends our Shariah mandate, a fully customisable investment portfolio that gives clients seeking Islamic investment solutions access to the full capabilities of a global wealth manager.

Arnaud Leclercq, Chairman, Lombard Odier Middle East and Partner, said: “We are honoured to win these awards once again. Both firmly underscore our commitment to the MENA region and our capacity to deliver truly bespoke wealth solutions for our clients.”

Overall International Private Bank (HQ outside MENA region)

Our dedicated Middle East team, which has doubled in the last five years, services clients from offices in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, as well as Geneva, Zurich and London, covering the market in a truly integrated way.

In 2019, Lombard Odier was the first Swiss private bank to receive a license to operate at the Abu Dhabi Global Market. As of September 2023, the Bank also has a license from the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) and our current office in Dubai will be replaced by a new subsidiary at the heart of the DIFC.

The judges said: “Lombard Odier’s innovative market research and products added to its broad range of sustainability investment solutions to meet increasing demand from MENA clients.”

    Shariah-Compliant Wealth Management Offering

The award recognises Lombard Odier’s capacity to provide bespoke wealth services that include innovative, Shariah-compliant investment and wealth planning solutions. We have been offering investment solutions in line with Islamic finance principles since 2012 and we continue to grow our offering.

In addition to our fully customisable Shariah investment mandate, we also offer a Shariah-compliant trust and the first ever Shariah-compliant UCITS1 developed market equities strategy that focusses on social, environment and governance (ESG) factors. In September 2022, we launched the Lombard Odier Assayil Global Strategy Balanced Certificate for clients not eligible to invest in our successful Shariah Balanced Mandate.

In their citation, the WealthBriefing said: “Lombard Odier’s dedicated Middle East team are developing a wider offering for Shariah-compliant investors and consider Islamic finance to be an important vector in promoting social responsibility and sustainability.”
