Lombard Odier wins Best Private Bank and Islamic services awards
We are delighted to announce that Lombard Odier has won two prestigious prizes at the WealthBriefing MENA Awards for Excellence 2022.
Lombard Odier has received the awards for best ‘Overall International Private Bank’ and best ‘Shariah-Compliant Wealth Management Offering’. The former recognise the outstanding performance from a private bank servicing the MENA region with a headquarters outside the region. The latter commends our Shariah mandate, a fully customisable investment portfolio that gives clients seeking Islamic investment solutions access to the full capabilities of a global wealth manager.
Overall International Private Bank (HQ outside MENA region)
Christophe Lalandre, Senior Executive Officer at Lombard Odier's ADGM branch said: “We are honoured to win this award, which underscores our firm commitment to the MENA region, one of Lombard Odier’s fastest-growing and most strategically important markets.”
Our dedicated Middle East team, which has doubled in the last five years, services clients from offices in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, as well as Geneva, Zurich and London, covering the market in a truly integrated way. In 2020, Lombard Odier was the first Swiss private bank to receive a license to operate at the Abu Dhabi Global Market.
The judges said: “After another year successfully building and growing the team and clients within the region, Lombard Odier have earned their win in this category. The winning bank covers the market in a consistent and innovative way.”
Shariah-Compliant Wealth Management Offering
This is the fourth year in a row that Lombard Odier has received the award for best ‘Shariah-Compliant Wealth Management Offering’. The award recognises Lombard Odier’s capacity to provide bespoke wealth services that include innovative, Shariah-compliant investment and wealth planning solutions. We have been offering investment solutions in line with Islamic finance principles since 2012 and we continue grow our offering.
In addition to our fully customisable Shariah investment mandate, we also offer a Sharia-compliant trust and the first ever Shariah-compliant, ESG focused UCITS strategy focused on developed market equities. In September 2022, we launched the Lombard Odier Assayil Global Strategy Balanced Certificate for clients not eligible to invest in our successful Shariah Balanced Mandate.
We consider Islamic finance to be an important vector in promoting socially responsible and sustainable investment, which is core to our investment philosophy and our business.
Arnaud Leclercq, Partner and Head of the New Markets team said: “High-net-worth investors across the region are increasingly looking to support the transition to a net-zero economy while expressing their beliefs. We see it as our fiduciary duty to provide our clients with the tools they need to invest sustainably to generate the best long-term returns in a way that complies with Shariah law.”
In their citation, the WealthBriefing judges said: “In this exceptionally important category, Lombard Odier has demonstrated that it has developed a holistic offering, which gives clients seeking Islamic solutions access to the full capabilities of a global wealth manager, on a truly personalised basis.”
