Leadership evolution in Lombard Odier’s Fribourg office

    Didier Muller and Stéphane Python

Lombard Odier has appointed Stéphane Python as Local Managing Director of its office in Fribourg, where the Bank has had a presence for more than 15 years. Effective from 1 January 2025, the appointment forms part of a generational handover in keeping with the Group’s tradition of business continuity. He will report directly to Stéphane Pedraja, Capital Partner and Head of the Lausanne, Vevey, Fribourg and Verbier offices. Didier Muller, who has led the Fribourg office since its creation, will remain in his position until the end of December, continuing to support our clients and ensuring a smooth transition.

Stéphane Python’s appointment underlines the continuous growth of Lombard Odier’s activity in the Fribourg region, where the Bank has served private clients – primarily local entrepreneurs and their families – as well as institutional clients since 2008. Over the course of more than 15 years, the office has doubled in size, currently employing six bankers representing all generations.

Stéphane Python’s appointment underlines the continuous growth of Lombard Odier’s activity in the Fribourg region

Stéphane Python grew up in the Gibloux region of Fribourg and joined Lombard Odier on 1 July 2024. Bilingual in French and Swiss-German, he benefits from more than 35 years of banking experience. Before joining Lombard Odier, Stéphane headed up a team at Julius Baer serving wealthy clients in German-speaking Switzerland. He also spent more than 30 years at Credit Suisse, notably as a manager of private clients in the Zurich region.

Stéphane Pedraja, Capital Partner and Head of the Lausanne, Vevey, Fribourg and Verbier offices, commented: “We are very happy that we can count on Stéphane’s extensive skills and experience. His broad knowledge of the industry, ability to forge relationships of trust with clients, focus on entrepreneurial and family values, and his recognised leadership skills make him the ideal person to enable our Fribourg office to continue to shine in the region and further afield.

We also sincerely thank Didier who, alongside his brother Jean-Daniel, helped set up and, with Bertrand Baechler, grow our Fribourg office and who brought Lombard Odier's values to the region. We are very grateful that we can count on his skills as he continues his work with our local clients.”

Stéphane Python, future Local Managing Director of Lombard Odier in Fribourg, said: “I am honoured to join Lombard Odier, a Firm with over 200 years of history and whose entrepreneurial and human values I share. I look forward in particular to supporting learning and intergenerational exchange as we seek excellence for our clients. Fribourg born and bred, I am delighted to continue working with the current team to pursue the further growth of the office in a stimulating environment where innovation and tradition coexist.”

Didier Muller, current Local Managing Director of Lombard Odier in Fribourg, added: Succession planning is key, and this concept applies to our Firm too; we must be organised well in advance. Successful handovers ensure continuity and stability. I am very happy to pass on the baton in such ideal conditions and to ensure that our presence in the region endures over time.”

The entrepreneurial richness of Fribourg and the local banking landscape make Lombard Odier a privileged player which offers real value with unique individual support. In Lombard Odier, a bank owned and led by its Managing Partners, clients in Fribourg find close-knit family values reflecting their own aspirations and needs.

Fribourg is one of seven Lombard Odier offices in Switzerland, alongside Geneva, Lausanne, Vevey, Verbier, Zurich and Zug.
